Wednesday Preview

The top 8 men and women join the draw tonight with matches once again starting at 3pm. We start strong with top seed Melissa Alves (FRA) on court 2 facing Eva Fertekova (CZE) and 7 time NASH Cup participant – and #7 seed – Nikki Todd (CAN) facing Anna Kimberley (ENG) on Court 1. The crowd only gets larger each evening and parking can be at a premium. Early arrival is advised. Rush seating will be available for the seats which are not currently assigned – $25 at the bar for those arriving before 4pm.
For 12 years the NASH Cup has been able to call in many of Ontario’s top referee’s to oversee the matches. In recent years we have had more locals adding to their credentials which is wonderful to see. Tonight Steve Flude; Ed Fowler; David Fishburn; Les Hommes & Dave Howard will be joined by locals Lisa Bogdan; John Bowering; Craig Hall and Jeff Tudhope. It’s a thankless job on court….so we will thank them all now.
Tomorrow Phill Stables and Trevor Tyson will host the annual (and very popular) Doubles Calcutta Pro-AM. The field may already be full, but there is lots of space for spectators. Expect things to be under way around noon. Guests are welcome.

The western men’s and women’s teams are fundraising this week. A silent auction will be set up tomorrow evening and a 50/50 draw is going on all week. The purse is already nearing $500 and has been over $2,000 in past years. Winners do not need to be present on Saturday night. Well worth chipping in a few buck (the western teams get very limited funding so this effort is critical).
