May Update

Vaccines are rolling out. In the next few days Canada will likely pass the United States in the race to get at least one vaccine to as many people as possible. This bodes well for our plans to host the 2021 NASH Cup in September. While there are MANY things we do not yet know, it’s worth providing an update on some of the planning details:

The Players

Our PSA player entry opened in late April and registrations are coming in. We anticipate some challenges with travel visas. Recent news that negotiations to reopen the border with the United States are encouraging. The odds that we will have a global field of competitors is increasing

Wildcard Entries

We’re pleased to announce that Stu Hadden (Detroit) and Amal Izhar (Mississauga) have been confirmed for the first wildcard positions.

Live Viewing

We expect seating to be very limited. No tickets are currently available, and more updates will be coming in the months ahead. Alternative viewing such as on-site broadcasting will be explored as Ontario’s gathering rules evolve.

Sponsors

We are currently looking to confirm all sponsors. No funding will be committed if the event does not go forward. Sponsors will have priority for seating / live viewing.

The Professional Squash Association has an extremely busy summer calendar with 57 events booked between now and the NASH Cup (and more being added). This is “the great reset” for many professional sports and tournaments range is size from 3K purses right up to half a million for each draw.

We are the only Canadian event current booked for 2021, but this is likely to change. Events similar in size to the NASH Cup are booked in Georgia the week before and Ohio the week after. This will likely strengthen our draw.

The NASH Cup has been a grass roots effort since its 2008 launch – volunteer run & not-for-profit. The tournament’s success is driven by the members of London Squash & Fitness; dedicated sponsors; and an incredible volunteer committee. New sponsors are always welcome.
