NASH Cup 2016 – Day 1 Recap
Night #1 of the 2016 is now in the books…it featured the largest Monday night crowd in tournament history, and some incredible matches.
- The women’s qualifier is now complete with Anna Kimberley; Nicole Bunyan; Nicol Garon; and Colette Saltana moving into the main draw (filling the spaces in this order)
- Of the 19 countries represented 3 were eliminated – Bermuda; Brazil; and Trinidad
- Tuesday night matches will begin at 4pm. All matches and times can be found HERE.
Reporting Jay Francis
No big surprises tonight in the qualifications. Many local players trying their hand against the PSA pro’s. Some valiant efforts, but no major upsets. Many comfortable wins for the PSA players looking to conserve energy for tomorrow’s matches.
The exception was Daniel Poleshchuk – he needed the full 5 games to finally get past Micah Franklin. We’ll have to see if that has any effects in tomorrow’s match against Anthony Graham at 6pm.
Tomorrow evening expects some really tough matches.
The crowd at London Squash & Fitness Club thoroughly enjoyed the first night. How many tournaments has the 1st round of qualifying included a pretty much full crowd with standing room only? I can see why the players seem to enjoy coming back for more Nash Cups!! It’s only going to get busier!
